Afzer’s Story
Afzer is a 35 year old a shop owner who decided to become a Mobile Financial Service (MFS) agent primarily to meet his own needs. Working at his shop, he often had to rely on others to make online payments, which became inconvenient.
This prompted him to take on agentship, allowing him to manage his financial transactions independently without having to depend on anyone else.
Afzer consulted fellow shopkeepers in the bazaar to understand the process of obtaining agentship. They directed him to a person who frequently visited the area and helped set up agentships. After getting in touch with this person, Afzer provided the necessary documentation, such as his National ID and trade license, and visited the MFS office to complete the registration process. The office explained how the system worked, and once the formalities were completed, he was granted agentship.
As an agent, Afzer primarily provides cash-in and cash-out services, which are the most requested by his customers. He holds agentships with several MFS providers.
Despite his success, Afzer frequently encounters technical challenges, such as slow server responses and low internet bandwidth, which sometimes prevent him from offering services. For instance, on one occasion, a woman came to register for a DFS account but due to server issues, Afzer was unable to assist her. He offered an alternative solution, suggesting that she open an account under a different service provider instead, to which she agreed. Providing a plethora of options helps Afzer serve his customers when one of the options inevitably fails.
