Heri’s Story
Heri is a 36-year-old high-performing bank agent from Medan, North Sumatra who has built a strong reputation in his community since becoming a bank agent in 2018. Before that, he sold mobile vouchers and phone accessories, gaining valuable experience in customer service and business operations. His role as a bank agent has steadily grown, and he's become a reliable figure in the neighbourhood, handling a large volume of daily transactions.
With a daily money cycle that can reach IDR 400,000,000 (around USD 24,500), Heri manages the workload by employing an assistant, especially during peak times when many customers queue for his services. Despite his success in managing transactions, Heri expresses reluctance to assist customers with opening new bank accounts through his service. He finds the account-opening process cumbersome compared to faster, more rewarding transactions like payments, transfers, or cash withdrawals, which offer better incentives for his time.
