Amatum’s Story
Amatum Begum is a 78 year old widow who lives in a village in Bangladesh. Amatum has a wallet that she uses to receive her old age pension from the government. Amatum rarely uses her mobile wallet to do anything beyond receiving money. She has a small, feature phone that she uses to stay in touch with her daughter and relatives outside the village - she is only aware of how to receive calls.
For the most part, she stays at home and often has to rely on family to support her and send her money. To facilitate this process, Amatum opened a Mobile Wallet.
However, she opted for a different service provider to the wallet that she receives her pension with as she was afraid that the government would stop the pension if they realised she was getting funds from elsewhere.
With this new wallet, Amatum will continue to receive money and withdraw it to use when required with the help of an agent.
