Harriet’s story
Harriet is a 50 year old farmer from Uganda who was looking to get onboarded onto a mobile wallet service. While most of her documents were in place, she needed to get a new sim card as her phone was stolen.
To do this, Harriet visited a network provider booth to register for a sim card. However, Harriet was unable to move forward with the process as the biometrics device present was unable to read her fingerprint.
Upon the agent’s suggestion, Harriet tried washing her hands and even using vaseline but all her efforts were in vain.
Her only next viable option is to register a sim under someone else’s name, but she would have preferred to have had the sim in her name.
