Saadick’s Story
Saadick is a 29-year-old refugee from Uganda who works at a local NGO. He began using mobile money through a sim registered under his Ugandan friend’s name - a common practice among refugees. He even paid 5000 Ugandan Shillings for it.
However, one day, his phone got stolen which meant that he lost the sim card. To access the previous sim data he would need to take help of his Ugandan friend, a process that he did not want to re-open.
Since he had finally received his refugee ID. Sadick decided to register for his own personal sim. Despite the potential of losing a day’s wage, Sadick took a day off from work and went to the office to obtain a sim card - as these were the only timings that the office was open. However, the internet was so bad that he could not complete the process. Saadick although excited by it simply cannot find another day to go to the office so if he gets a free day he will or else he’ll just wait.
