Aditya’s Story
Aditya is an 18-year-old pandit at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh who recently shifted from his hometown of Ranchi, to pursue his spiritual calling as a Hindu priest, which he finds fulfilling.
Each day, he begins with meditation and then meets his guru to continue his religious duties. While he is passionate about his work as a pandit, he also harbours aspirations to open a restaurant in Varanasi.
When it comes to finances, Aditya currently relies on his sister’s bank account to save his earnings. He often visits the local Common Service Center (CSC) to withdraw cash. Although he uses Google Pay (GPay) to transfer funds to his sister's account, he prefers to handle most of his daily expenses in cash, as digital transfers can take time and he usually needs the money more urgently. Additionally, Aditya doesn’t always carry his phone with him throughout the day, only checking his transaction history in the evening when he has access to his phone.
In the coming week, Aditya plans to open his own bank account with HDFC, influenced by the fact that many people around him have accounts there. Confident that all his documentation is in order, he intends to visit the bank in person to start the process.
