Fazle’s Story

Fazle is a 30 year old carpenter who lives in a village in Bangladesh.

Most of his customers pay him in cash but some occasionally request to send money via DFS.

To accommodate such transactions, Fazle uses his wife’s account as he could not create his own account due to the fact that he had no National ID as he did not require it since he didn't avail government services.

However, this account has now become inaccessible as they cannot remember the PIN. Since the account was registered under his wife’s name, recovering the PIN is a complicated ordeal. To circumvent this, since he had received his new ID Fazle decided to open a new account with a different service provider - a process while straightforward took some time to navigate through due to glitches in the system.
