Purnima’s Story
Purnima is a 26 year old operator in a garment factory in Dhaka city who lives in a rented house near her workplace. She uses a smartphone and receives her salary through a DFS account. When she learned that her child, a primary school student, was eligible for a stipend, she found out she needed to open a new type of account to receive it.
Given her familiarity with managing her everyday account and knowing that self-registration was an option, Purnima decided to handle the new account setup herself, avoiding the time-consuming process of visiting busy agent shops.
Her first step was locating her National ID, which is required for registration. However, this took longer than expected—about 15 minutes—since she had misplaced it in her wardrobe.

After retrieving the NID, she downloaded the app from the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, due to poor internet connectivity, she had to step outside her home to get a stronger signal before successfully downloading the app.
Following the app's interface instructions, Purnima began the registration process but encountered difficulties while trying to capture her live photo, as she kept blinking during the process. Feeling stuck, she sought help from her female neighbour, the house owner, who guided her on how to properly take the photo.

When it came time to set her PIN, Purnima felt unsure of what to enter. Once again, she turned to her neighbour for advice, who suggested using the last four digits of her NID. With that, she completed the registration process and successfully opened her Nagad account.
