Ella’s Story
Ella is a businesswoman from Medan, North Sumatra. Unlike many who are unbanked, she actively uses multiple mobile banking services, digital wallets, and ride-hailing applications. Having several accounts enables her to better serve her customers.
For a long time, Ella has been the one to pay the bills digitally when hanging out with her friends, thanks to her familiarity with various apps, including those for ordering transportation. Recognising the benefits of this technology, she has encouraged her friends to adopt it as well, successfully onboarding around ten of them.
Ella believes that everyone should be independent, and she is eager to help, as she finds the onboarding process to be an easy task. For her, it requires just a smartphone, a reliable internet connection, and an ID card—no more than a few hours of time. She even goes the extra mile by providing a hotspot for friends who lack a connection.
"We need to be independent. Helping friends is no problem; it helps them not fall behind. After all, it's important, especially for pregnant women, so they don’t have to go out." Ella explains.
